Now that Spring is here we are concentrating on our Local, Sustainable, Free Range and delicious Menu being created by Dan Maxwell & Richard Edwards with assistance from Justin, Joe Green & Dean Waterfield - they are very proud to have secured a 5 star rating from Annette at Enviro Health which we can display from April 2017 - well done boys!
That said we're not leaving out the drinkers as we're offering for the WHOLE OF MARCH 1130-2100hrs SMIRNOFF RED DOUBLE N' DASH for £5....and check out our Events page as LIVE MUSIC lovers have lots to dance about with us this March, April & May.
MOTHER'S DAY SUNDAY 26TH MARCH we have Jamie's great band SILVERBACK playing fun ROCK COVERS in the main bar after a superb session of ROAST DINNERS FOR ALL - let us know in advance if you are Vegan, GF, Diabetic and the team will get a dish created!
Mothering Sunday Lunch 12-4pm Booking Highly Recommended........
Kelways is a beautiful building built around 1851 and undergoing a stunning renovation in 1997. Originally it was a nursery for Langport & world wide peonies, iris etc - they have moved just down the road and are still winning awards at Chelsea each year (Gold in 2015, Silver in 2016 I believe..).
You can find out more about Kelways Nursery at www.kelways.co.uk.
Keep any January blues at bay; with a roaring log fire & lunch options from just £4 and even a Happy Hour Monday to Thursday between 5-6pm.....we know how to keep our lovely customers happy this Winter. We're excited to start Live Music Sundays next month - February 12th (Valentine's Sunday) between 5.30 - 7.30pm with "Mule" 60-70's Rock covers band which includes 2 members of the Top UK Live Band "The Producers".........free entry and a perfect end to a lazy Sunday Roast with us. Kelways Unplugged (open mic night) is the first Thursday of every month (2/2/17) free open to all & please do come to sing, play and support your local bands & musicians...
Christmas is nearly here & the pub is looking wonderful! Alice, Emma & Holly have put up our Fabulous Kelways Nursery Xmas Trees - we have 3 and they've gone to town with lights & tinsel too. We're delighted with all the local businesses/schools/charities that have booked Christmas Parties with us this year...they've been great fun so far - especially with Dan's 80's disco last Sat....I don't know...and I'm really looking forward to this Thurs 15th Dec when we have NAWT/Heaven's Gate dining as they are taking advantage of our Vegan and Vegetarian Xmas Dishes.
We still have spaces for last minute bookings, some dates, lunch or dinner so give us a call on 01458 252144 or email email@example.com or just drop by .... from Justin & Myself and all our brilliant staff - We wish you a Very Merry Christmas 2016......Cheers
It's nearly October 2016 now - we had a great Summer but with staff changes/sickness/hols it's been quite a slog & I've got behind on the updates, sorry about that.
Summer saw Kelways Inn take off food wise & with Dan joining there has been fireworks in the kitchen!!! We've got busy enough now to require booking for Sunday Lunch and even opened up the back room as designated Dining Area - we've great plans for this beautiful room & just saving a few more pennies & hope to delight folk asap....Right now it's getting ready for Xmas Parties which sounds wrong but we've had our first few bookings already.....
April was the beginning of Spring 2016 and people are starting to venture outside, we had Dark Horse Sound system back to with DJ Luke Mann and Kelways was a nightclub once again - great fun!!
We also had folk duo "No Fixed Abode" and Rock Covers Band - "Bad Edukation" which everyone had a good old boogie to.....we love live music here at Kelways and look forward to having new bands playing throughout the year.
April has St George's Day and Easter Bank Holiday - so lots of Real Ales and Steak and Pidney Pudding, cake & custard were the order of the day!
Andrea Dyer has been cooking up a storm in the kitchen with Rosie & we look forward to welcoming new chef Dan Maxwell in May....whole lot of good eating going on here now!
March was St David & St Patrick's Days and we drank accordingly.....we also had Karaoke back with Steve Nott....I don't think Karaoke is right for Kelways this time round as it was painful - and Very Very Messy!! We did however welcome Andrea Dyer our new chef to Kelways Kitchen & we've been getting steadily busier for food since. The comments we are now receiving for Sunday Roasts are excellent & booking is definitely recommended.
February we had the Amazing PIRATE Weekend with fancy dress, Dark/White and the eternally popular Spiced Rums (Thank you to Old J RUM people for coming & training the team on fine Cocktails & mixes) We also had DARK HORSE sound system and LUKE MANN playing Minimal House/Techno beats.........they will be returning April 8-9th for another Banging Weekender with outside adult inflatables & hopefully sunshine this time!!!
January 2016 - Wow what a month! We didn't expect to be so busy (it's wonderful!) Rest will have to be another time.....thanks for all the support lovely customers for Local Sausage & Cider Fest....we'll be keeping some of those recipes on menu and I hope you visit some of the local butchers - Evans & Scrivens in Langport -P&K Meats & Griffiths in Street.....Local cider farms - Burrow Hill, Heck, Thatchers, Orchard Pig, Harry's......I can hear the karaoke livening up in the bar so will come back with more updates soon........
Dec 2015 - AMAZING MONTH, so much fun...We had live Bands & Discos & Dj's and Singing and Dancing & Drinking & Christmas Parties. Loved it, even paid some bills! Staff worked really hard and hopefully every valued customer had a good time. Time for a rest 🙂

A BIG THANK YOU to every single person who signed our Keep the Kelways Wood Burner petition, the members of the Huish Parish Council - who said such kind words & supported us. Mr Clive Miller (Associates) for his hard work & support on the process also Simon at Roundbrain Studio for his plan drawings. We are grateful to you all.
Christmas is just around the corner & we look forward to having local businesses over for Dinner & Disco and families & friends sharing quality time & food together here - all welcome...here's to a happy & successful Festive Season... Cheers!!
Oct 2015 - Enjoying the great weather October has brought & people are still enjoying sunning themselves in the garden with our fab wood fired pizzas & salads..soon to the stews & pies..we already have a gorgeous crumble on the menu using our own Pears from the garden!
In the back room we now have a TV for sporting events such as Rugby which has been popular & quite rowdy! We are really looking forward to welcoming Bill & his darts time to the first league match this Friday 9th October.
We are hoping to get a Thursday Quiz night going soon & then a pool table & then...
Sep2015 - We've been open nearly 3months now & it's been great fun! We have our much appreciated locals and a friendly passing trade of travellers & works people looking for tasty lunch & dinners...the wood burner has been a real hit with everyone - August being so cold & wet sometimes that it seems it's been really needed lit. The fire attracts dog walkers, ramblers, families & cuddling couples - a great new addition to the pub.
We have Bustling Boozy Friday nights & Super Saturdays with music on occasion (Birthdays, Christenings, Engagements & Leaving Do's with food & celebration cakes too!) The Sunday Roasts - with free range local meats & great vegetarian/vegan options have been a joy (not to my waistline mind...those home made puddings by Rosie are to die for..)
June 2015 - We are really excited to re-open June 2015 after it's closure in February. There are many MANY improvements that could be made but, we've done enough - we hope - to get the doors open to the public in time for Summer.
We'll do more as & when we can. We hope you like the look & feel of the pub...let us know your thoughts....
